Countercult builds artist-founded culture-tech infrastructure for the route from cultural knowledge to economic opportunity. It combines a public discovery Network, paid Studios delivery, and the Countercult Fund.
The starting point is culture, but the category is larger. Countercult is working across local economic development, creator-economy infrastructure, cultural tourism, creative production, public-interest technology, and community-controlled digital systems.
How the system works

- Commission: turn the right connection into a paid brief, programme, experience, or partnership.
- Fund: use business and institutional budgets to create repeat demand for local cultural work.
Why it is bigger than a directory
A directory stops at visibility. Countercult is building the layers that can follow work from discovery to brief, production, payment, and outcome while preserving local governance and cultural context.
Open cultural infrastructure and the software licence
Countercult’s software is distributed under AGPL-3.0-or-later. That licence applies to the software, not automatically to artists’ work, images, editorial, public-profile data, or private member records. Public discovery remains consent-based, and attribution and rights continue to matter.
